Getting old means...

Facebook has an option where you can see posts from the same day years ago. Which can lead to two situations.
First one, you laugh embarrassed at your younger self wondering who in their right mind would post these things.
Second one ,my personal favorite, is when you fill surprised by the wit some of your comments have.
The latter works as a self-boosting.
Or a reminder of what consists you.
The “real” you.
Through life people tend to change. Not drastically, some strong aspects linger despite everything, but other trivial ones drift at the hill of everyday motion. Those insignificant details however can ,at some point in life, get one back on track. Remind who one was before reality came too strong!
Now those details are not always positive advice from your past self. They could be habits you tried to outgrow or behaviors solely based on the company you had at the time. Nonetheless one can gain points from those too.
As years go by, you will have those brief moments of realization. Who you were and who is you now. Which choices were right and which wrong. That alone is the gift of aging. You don't “learn from your mistakes”, it is guaranteed you'll be making those again.
Although this time your retrospect of the aftermath will differ.
The younger the age the most self centered one is. World is ready for the main character to conquer.
The slightest difference in plan cause discomfort to the protagonist. Which creates the so called “drama” .
Once our hero is a bit older ,or in a better choice of words "mature", he or she understands that in order for the world to be yours you too have to be a side character in others people stories .
You will continue towards your dreams and goals, but with a better perspective of your positioning in society.
In case my thought became too poetic or incoherent, what I’m trying to say is “getting older successfully means forgiving others for any hurtful, at the time, action they made and thinking about your own handle of the situation”.
It is easy to put the blame on someone else for a misfortune in ones life. Indeed, they may play a big part in the chaos created afterwards but your way of responding to the situation arising, also matters.
When one finally manages to reach that point of "round thinking", then one is truly happy.
In a world where getting older means getting expired this mentality paves a long, difficult but strong way of the yearned inner harmony and meaning of life.
P.S
I’m not, by any means, saying that you should go “saint” on me.If you can though be my guest.
Distancing yourself and truly analyzing the things you are at fault, does not mean making excuses over the ones that may have or will hurt you. It means that you choose to acknowledge that it takes two to tango and move on!!!
Yours truly,
